Cardross is surrounded by many miles of traffic free trails which pass through the heart of the Trossachs.

Here are four of the most notable routes from Aberfoyle:

  • Aberfoyle to Buchlyvie/Drymen. Following the railway route along the river, this route divides after two miles to offer the choice of a flat ride to Buchlyvie (7 miles) or a hillier single track road to Drymen (13 miles)
  • Duke’s Pass. A famous climb, straight from the main street in Aberfoyle. Challenging but with wonderful views and, once over the top, there are options to continue to Callander or Loch Katrine

Walks in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs

Cardross Estate borders the Eastern edge of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and the foothills of the Trossachs. The National Park sits on the cusp of the Scottish Highlands, a beautiful region of lochs, glens and miniature mountains. Often overlooked in favour of the taller peaks that characterize the central Highlands, this region abounds with fantastic hiking trails and some of Scotland’s most iconic lakes.

Its location provides the perfect base for a countryside getaway and exploring Scotland, with convenient access to Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow as well as the Highlands and both East and West coasts.

Natural monuments, such as Lake of Menteith, Flanders Moss National Nature reserve (the largest lowland raised bog in Europe) and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park are ready to be discovered. Scottish history is also very present in the region, with Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument, and Doune Castle nearby.

Cardross is also home to five farms, a mix of arable and livestock, which have been home to families for generations. There are also a number of events and festivals that happen throughout the year on the general Estate.
